del Tigre) in Sierra Madre Occidental, this
place is called the "Switzerland of Mexico".

Mazamitla is located 122 kn (75.8 miles)
from Guadalajara which is the capitol of the state of Jalisco.
The town is connected to Colima and Michoacan by state road
110 and is three hours to the Pacific coast.
Average temperature is 20 C (68 F). The altitude is 2,240 M
(7,349 FT).

was founded by the
Terascos people. They
also went to Michoacan.
Many places were named
by the Michoacan people
in their native language.
The climate in this green
zone of the Sierra Madres
is semi-dry and semi warm.
Annual rainfall is 91 - 122 cubic inches. The rainy season starts in June and continues through September.
The winter has precipitation from November to February. The
climate does require winter clothing year round
but the sunny afternoons generally brings temperatures up to
bring 70's during the summer months.
Air conditioning is not required. The houses are traditionally
heated by fireplace but gas is also available as well as
all other utilities (electric, phone, cable, etc.)
The land is rich and fertile giving
wonderful opportunity for
gardening, orchards and excellent
pasture land for cattle.
Mazamitla offers excellent

various artisans.

activities, ATV rentals, as well as night clubs and dancing.
